The average shower lasts 8 minutes, during that time 60 Litres of water will be used (1).
I'm the worst when it comes to showering; I'm the housemate who showers at least twice a day, takes WAY too long of showers while using up all the hotwater. If you're at all like me... I'll let you in on a little secret, all that water you're wasting... you could be saving it! While, at least some of it.
The easiest, most underrated technique to save water is by replacing that old shower head with a Water Reducing Shower Head! You can find these at Walmart, Canadian Tire, anywhere that sells shower heads.
These magical instruments work by reducing the volume of water used by one half. But don't worry, that lovely water pressure we all want is not jeopardized!
All it takes from you? Unscrewing the old, water wasting shower head and screwing on the new water saving one.
Though a bit pricey, the pay off is astronomical; during a 10 minute shower you can save 57L of water! Now, every time you take a long, hot shower you won't have to think about ALL that water you're wasting 'cause IRL you're helping the planet!
